A more conventional design bird box having just single skin walls. It does however have a double layered roof which is made from one layer of 19mm marine ply with a tin roof overtop. This assists with stopping direct sunlight from overheating the box.
Inside the box there is a chicane (Zigzag) style passage that is big enough to let small birds through but tight enough to keep larger birds and predators at bay. This also offers seclusion to the nesting birds away from line of sight of the main entry.
At the entry there is a tree branch for the birds to land on and to sit and keep guard from. You will also notice there is a small gap near the bottom, this is designed to allow for ventilation and to let water out should any rain blow in through the entry.
Mounting for this style of box is via the mounting board (Supplied). I have added photos for two different ways in which you can use the supplied mounting board. See photos 1 & 1A, 2 & 2A. An alternate mounting method is to add a couple of hangers to the supplied mounting board.. See Photos A,B and C.
