Pitched roof bird box for medium sized birds.
Part of my premium range of bird boxes.. This box has double skinned walls, a box within a box. This regulates the temperature of the inside nest box increasing the likely hood of birds staying put. Single skin bird boxes are prone to overheating particularly if they are not positioned correctly and are in direct sunlight.
Two wire ladders, one inside and one outside, aid the birds to climb in and out.
An Indian myna baffle is fitted in front of the entrance to help deter Indian Mynas. That's the piece of timber hiding the entrance. Mynas are a pest species that like to fly directly to an entrance without having to climb. The baffle helps to block the Mynas direct flightpath. On the other hand, Parrots like to climb up to a nest entrance and also like a hidden entrance. The Myna baffle assists with both these, so it's a win, win situation.
Mounting the box;
This is easily done via the two screw holes, one each at the top and bottom of the box. Simply screw the box directly into position through the holes. Screws provided.
The Bird box comes with a stainless steel eye hook centrally located in it's roof top. This eye is not used for mounting the box but is used as part of the mounting procedure. Attach a length of rope to the eye and sling the other end of the rope over a branch above the location of where the box will be mounted. Then get your assistant to pull the box up to the approximate mounting position while you climb a ladder and screw the box into it's final position.
